Kathy Tayler

Kathy Tayler's probably best known for her years as reporter on the BBC Holiday programme and TVam. What her recent fans may not know is that she began her career as an international sports star - she was the modern pentathlon world champion at just 19! After having three children, she decided to spend her time at home with them. These days, with the kids at school, Kathy has returned to what she loves best - TV presenting.

'I'm known for being clumsy and dropping things... I poured water in Dale's lap.'

What's your favourite...

Favourite Film?

Brassed Off is one of my favourites, and another is Fly Away Home. It's a children's film about a girl who builds a microlite so she can fly with her geese when they migrate. It's lovely.

Favourite Book?

There are so many, I love to read. A book I've enjoyed recently is The Time Traveller's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is another favourite - I liked it as a child and still enjoy it now. It's got everything you need in a book.

Actor?

Arnold Schwarzeneggar.

Do you have a middle name?

Mary. It's a family middle name - my grandmother, mother and daughter all have it too.

Do you have any children?

I have a daughter, Rebecca, who's almost 15. And my two sons, Charlie and Billy, are 13 and 10.

Do you have any pets?

We have a shaggy dog called Barney, two cats called Buddy and Polly, and my daughter has a horse called Flower. Oh, and we've got fish too.

What do you enjoy doing?

My life mainly revolves around my children and their hobbies. If my husband and I do have some time to ourselves, we'll have a nice meal and a bottle of wine. I like to keep fit too, but I struggle to find the time.

Do you believe in love at first sight?

Yes, I do. Or at least, I believe in something special at first sight. I spotted my husband across an airport departure lounge - luckily we were flying to the same place!

What's the scariest thing you've ever done?

When I leapt out of an aeroplane for the sixth time. I loved it the first time, and it got more scary each time I did it as I felt I was probably reducing my odds of survival!

What's been your silliest moment at QVC?

There have been many. I'm known for being clumsy and dropping things. I suppose it was when I poured water in Dale's lap. We were presenting a jewellery show together and he was drinking out of a posh glass teacup. I was absolutely convinced it was empty so I tipped it upside down and there was half an inch of water left in it. He'll tell you it was three inches though!
